Regulatory and Competition

It is essential to receive good professional advice in an increasingly competitive market. We combine legal and economic theory to provide specialized advice in market regulation and competition.

Our partners have been part of various decision-making and supervisory bodies for free competition and economic regulation in Peru, and regularly participate as representing lawyers in proceedings brought before those organizations, mainly in the areas of telecommunications, energy and public transportation infrastructure. Similarly, we offer consulting services on environmental conflict resolution.

Our team is made up of economists and lawyers who are experts in legal and economic theory related to our practice areas. We have wide experience in providing professional advice to regulatory and decision-making bodies such as the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI, in Spanish); the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (OSIPTEL, in Spanish); the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (OSINERGMIN, in Spanish); and the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Public Transportation Infrastructure (OSITRAN, in Spanish). We can therefore offer comprehensive and specialized service in these areas since we have gained know-how in topics such as tariff, interconnection, and access conditions regulation, and in controversies between regulated companies.

In matters of competition, we have experience in areas such as free competition, unfair competition, advertising, removing bureaucratic barriers, and consumer protection, among others. Members of our firm have actively participated in drawing up the legislation related to these topics.

In recent years, we have provided consulting services on competition issues in the following markets: beer, cement, hydrocarbons, agro-export products, financial and port services, just to name some of them.
